Micro switches usually have many names, including "micro-quick-action" switches. Essentially they are electrical switches that use an "off-center" or endpoint mechanism to facilitate start-up using minimum pressure. Because of their low cost and long life, they are now widely used by engineers and electricians, especially as single switches that provide one million cycles, while industrial microswitches can be reused up to ten million cycles. Compared to switches that provide a simple two-state switch/off state, microswitches provide an extremely flexible actuator by providing it with the ability to switch between specific positions flexibly and reliably. At its core, the main feature of the microswitch is the amplification produced by the actuator button: The tiny press of the button causes a large (and extremely rapid) movement between the contacts. Even if the actuation is relatively slow, the contacts always move very rapidly. The microswitch is also defined in terms of its function: it can remain in its "current state" until a major reversal of the actuator occurs. The invention, known as "hysteresis, " shows that tiny reversals do not cause action. When the actuator is subjected to the necessary reversals, it provides a fast and reliable switching circuit.
